Begin the Final Unit in Astronomy:

The End of the World!

Compile a list of the ways that scientists, as well as science fiction writers believe the world may end.
1. This should be a top ten list (where possible).
2. Which one do you believe to be the most believable?

Help is on the Way!
Goal:  You must master landing the craft AND taking off again (you will eventually have to work in teams).  10 trials

Landing Craft Virtual Laboratory

Before you begin the virtual laboratory, please answer the following questions:

Create a table for this activity in your journal containing the appropriate values for the experimental Landing craft.  Your columns should at the very least include - Landing speed, type of landing (were there injuries), range, fuel, comments (your comments should discuss how you will do the next landing or the prior landing).
Sample chart should include:
Landing Speed

Type of Landing (Injuries?)

Range

Fuel

Comments (tips for next landing attempt)

Landing Craft Activity

Questions:

1.  Which thruster worked the best, your space bar or your arrow keys?  Why do you think this is?
2.  Was there a standard numerical cut-off for a soft landing?  Were you able to determine a set way to
     effectively land the vehicle?
Pandemic

A pandemic is an outbreak of disease that affects a large group (whole country or worldwide)

What is the difference between Epidemic and Pandemic?
—Pandemic normally is used to indicate a far higher number of people affected than an epidemic.
—Pandemic also refers to a much larger region being affected.
—In the most extreme case, the entire global population would be affected by a pandemic.

Treatment

—Antibiotics are used to treat Bacteria not Viruses.
—If you use too many antibiotics you can become antibiotic resistant.
—Vaccines are used to prevent the spread of viruses not all viruses have a vaccine to help prevent.
